Training Ethosthrow-crop

Established in April 2012 by Duncan McNulty the Bartitsu & Antagonistics Forum aims to teach and develop Bartitsu and provide a physical and mental workout to its members. Trying to combine the intellectual research or Western Martial Arts with the physical discipline of Eastern Martial Arts, the forum welcomes all who come to study and practice Bartitsu.  As a group we are not interested in competitions or gradings but rather on the personal development of each student.

What Equipment Do I Need To Train?

At an Initiate (starting) level the only equipment required is black tracksuit trousers, a plain white t shirt and sensible trainers. It is however advisable to purchase a pair of mixed martial arts sparring gloves as soon as possible to allow you to take part in BAF (a light contact game designed to teach the principles of fighting).

In order to graduate to the level of Scholar you will be required to obtain a cane, head guard, gum shield, plain black t shirt and if needed a box!

Additional equipment may be needed when practising certain improvised or traditional weapons, for example mask, gauntlets, elbow and knee guards; these will be discussed as and when they are taught.
